TOMATO KOOTU !!!!!


Tomato Kootu is a Tamilnadu delicacy.

INGREDIENTS:-

tomatoes - 4-5
moong dal - 1/3 cup
cumin seeds - 1 1/2 tsp
split black gram - 1/2 tsp
green chillies - 2
coconut, grated - 1-2 tsp (optional)
curry leaves - 10-12
turmeric powder - 1/4 tsp
hing - 1/4 tsp
oil - 1 tbsp
mustard seeds - 1/4 tsp
salt to taste

METHOD:-

1. Put tomatoes in boiling water & leave for 5-7 mins until tomatoes becomes very soft.
2. Remove the tomatoes & let them cool. Peel the skin & keep them aside.
3. Pour 2 cups of water in a pot & add green gram dal & boil until dal becomes soft. Drain the excess water.
4. Grind green chillies+cumin seeds+2-3 curry leaves+grated coconut together into a paste.\
5. In a shallow pan , put tomatoes & add turmeric pow+salt+curry leaves. Boil the contents for 8 mins.
6. When done add boiled moong dal & ground paste.
7. Mix well & boil again on low heat for 3-4 mins. Take off  heat & keep aside.
8. In a tadka pan heat oil ass mustard seeds, then cumin seeds+split black gram seeds+3-4 curry leaves+hing. When black gram dal turns slightly brown take off from fire.
9. Add this seasoning to prepared mixture.

PANIYARAM !!!!!


Paniyaram is a Tamilnadu delicacy. It is nothing but banana mulik. 

INGREDIENTS:-

maida - 1 cup
egg - 1
refined sugar - 50 gms
banana(ripe) - 1
soda bi carbonate - a pinch
oil for deep frying

METHOD:-

1.  Sift the maida & soda bi carb in a sieve.
2. Beat the egg with sugar till sugar dissolves.
3. Mix the flour & egg-sugar mixture with the mashed banana adding enough water to make a thick batter.
4. Heat oil in a deep fryer.
5. Take a spoonful of batter & drop gently into the hot oil. 5-6 pieces can be fried together.
6. Cook till they are fully & evenly cooked to a golden brown colour.
7. Drain the excess oil & serve.

and here's a tip:-

Use medium heat for frying as the inside of paniyarams should be cooked thoroughly.

CARROT VADAI !!!!



INGREDIENTS:-

1 cup grated carrot
1 cup thoor dal
1 tsp garam masala pow
1 sring corr leaves
1 spring curry leaves
5 gr chillies
1 big onion
1 tsp chilly pow
a pinch hing
salt 2 taste
 

METHOD:-

1. Soak the thoor dal in water for 30 mins and grind it without adding water. Don't grind it 2 a smooth paste.
2. Add grated carrot+chopped onion+corr leaves+gr chillies+salt+hing+garam masala pow to grounded dal.
3. Mix thoroughly and make small vadas and deep fry it.
