First of all i want to say this is not authentic recipe for ALOO MUTTER. I used to prepare this dish when my son was a kid & he liked it a lot then. & he likes to eat this dish without roti/bread. Later i joined FB & joined some food groups too & i was busy in preparing new new dishes which are posted in that food groups & i totally forgot about this dish. Recently my son reminded me of this dish & again prepared it for him. This is quick to prepare dish & goes well with rotis/bread/idly/dosas.
INGREDIENTS:-
potatoes - 2 big
mutter, fresh/frozen - 1/2 cup
onion, finely chopped - 2
tomato, finely chopped - 2
ginger - 1/2 inch
garlic flakes - 8
garam masala powder - 1 tsp
kitchen king masala powder - 1/2 tsp
turmeric powder - 1/4 tsp
salt to taste
coriander leaves for garnishing
METHOD:-
1. Peel & cut potatoes into half. Pressure cook them along with green peas. Take 2-3 whistles. (don't discard water)
2. In a non stick pan heat little oil & add chopped onions & fry till light brown.
3. Crush ginger & garlic flakes & add it to pan along with chopped tomatoes. & fry them till tomatoes are mushy.
4. Add turmeric powder+garam masala powder+kitchen king masala powder to this & fry for a while.
5. Smash 1/2 cooked potato & add it to the fried mixture & mix well.
6. Now cut remaining cooked potatoes into medium pieces & add it to the gravy along with cooked green peas & water.
7. Add salt to taste & mix well.
8. Check the salt & consistency of gravy. Add more water if desired to adjust the consistency of gravy.
9. Bring it to boil.
10. Transfer it to a serving bowl & garnish it with chopped coriander leaves.
11. Serve hot with rotis/ bread.
